If you do not spend a lot of your time planning and booking Disney World vacation, you might be surprised to find out that Disney World actually offers multiple ticket options. How in the world do you decide if your family should get base tickets, Park Hopper Tickets, or Park Hopper Plus Tickets?
What’s the difference between the ticket options? Are the price differences between tickets worth it for your family?
Base tickets at Disney World give you one day admission to one theme park per ticket.
These tickets are great for families who only travel to Walt Disney World® Resort once in awhile or are first timers.
You will be able to spend the entire day in one theme park. This is perfect for families that want to spend as much time as possible in the theme parks, and it is a sure way to make sure you see and ride everything on your bucket list.
Once you enter a theme park, you cannot change your mind and go to another theme park in the same day.
If you skip any attractions, you will not be able to come back and do them another day unless you purchase another base ticket for another entire day spent at that theme park.
Park Hopper Tickets
If you purchase Park Hopper Tickets, you can go back and forth between theme parks everyday of your visit. This allows you to see multiple theme parks in one day. Your options include:
Park Hopper Tickets are great for families that have been to Disney World multiple times, and know exactly what they want to see and when they want to see it.
With Park Hopper Tickets, you can get into one theme park, visit your must see attractions, and then do the same at another theme park.
This ticket option, gives you more freedom to decide what you want to do and when. If your family did not get an opportunity to see everything you wanted to see one day, you can go back to that same theme park the second day of your vacation.
When traveling from park to park you must count in the extra time it will take to travel from one theme park to another and the time it will take to get through security.
If you are planning a short visit, but still want to see as many attractions at all of the parks as possible, the Park Hopper Ticket might not be right for you.
When your travel agent makes your FastPass selections in advance, all 3 FastPass selections must be made at the same theme park.
For example, if you plan on spending your morning at the Magic Kingdom® Park and your afternoon at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park, you can only make FastPass selections at ONE of those theme parks in advance. If you make all your FastPass selections at the Magic Kingdom® Park, you will not have any FastPass selections at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park in advance.
Once you use your 3 FastPass selections that you made in advance, you can however made individual FastPass selections at ANY theme park that you choose.
Park Hopper Plus Tickets
The Park Hopper Plus Tickets get you everything that the Park Hopper Tickets have to offer PLUS more fun. For every day ticket that you have, you can visit another Walt Disney World® Resort fun location.
For example, if you have 5 day tickets, you can visit 5 other Walt Disney World® Resort fun locations with the Park Hopper Plus Ticket.
The locations you can choose from are:
- Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park
- Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
- ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
- Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course. (9-hole walking course)
- Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course. (Round must start before 4 p.m.)
- Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course. (Round must start before 4 p.m.)
To find ticket options and availability check with your travel agent. Park Hopper Plus tickets can be purchased for up to 10 days. You do not need to use the tickets on consecutive days, but you will have a time frame that they need to be used after your start date.
Park Hopper Plus tickets have the same advantages as the Park Hopper Tickets. They are great for families that have a longer stay, and want to experience even more fun in addition to the theme parks.
Additionally, the Park Hopper Plus Tickets allows your family to experience even more fun. This just adds to the magic, fun, and experiences that your family can experience on your Walt Disney World® Resort Vacation.
You can use more than 1 extra fun entry per day, and they do not need to be used on the same day that you enter the theme parks. You can split your extra fun entry up throughout your vacation, you can use them before you go to any theme park, or you can use them after you experience the theme parks.
Keep in mind that once you use your first ticket, you only have a certain number of days to use the tickets from your start date.
The Park Hopper Plus Ticket has the same disadvantages as the Park Hopper Ticket.
Additionally, some of the extra fun locations are subject to availability, special events require additional fees, and some extra fun locations must start prior to certain times. Make sure you check with your travel agent, so your family can experience all the extra fun you would like to.
Park Hopper Plus Tickets gives you so many more options of extra fun to add to your vacation, but if your family doesn’t have a longer stay at Walt Disney World® Resort, then you might not have time for all of these extras.
Things To Keep In Mind
To decide what ticket option is best for your family, it depends on your family’s wants and needs, your experience at Disney World, and the length of your stay. There is no one answer to what tickets you should purchase for your vacation to Walt Disney World® Resort.
Throughout the year, Disney offers different promotions that offer different ticket options. If you use a travel agent to plan your Disney vacation, they will also be on the lookout for new promotions for you.
Special events at Walt Disney World® Resort are priced separately.
