One of the best experiences at Walt Disney World® Resort, is meeting the characters, no matter what age the guests in your party are. Attending a character breakfast, is a convenient way to see multiple characters, without having to wait in line. Today I will review one of my FAVORITE character dining experiences- Tusker House at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park.
Tusker House in located in Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park.
Breakfast– $29.99 per adult, $16.99 per child (ages 3-9)
Lunch– $34.99 per adult, $17.99 per child (ages 3-9)
Dinner– $41.99 per adult, $19.99 per child (ages 3-9)
Make sure to make your reservations 180 days in advance, so you can plan your character meal at Tusker House when it is most convenient for you.
When it is your reservation time, you can walk straight up to the front desk to check in. They will get you checked in, and let you know that someone will be right out to show you to your table.
In my experience, the wait time is very short. You will be seated exactly at your reservation time.
For those of you with little ones, you will pass stroller parking to you right, before entering the restaurant.
You will be seated, and your waiter/ waitress will explain everything you need to know about Tusker House, so there is no guessing.
As soon as you enter the Tusker House, you will not be able to help but notice the African theme and thoughtful decor planning.
The characters will come around to your table, so you will get one on one time with each character. You will be told the route that the characters take, and what order they will be coming to your table.
When the music starts to play, it is time for the Conga Celebration. Your little ones can grab a maraca and participate in a conga line with the characters around the restaurant.
Whenever you are ready, you can get your food at the buffet, eat, and head to your next attraction at your own pace.
Tusker House is clean and welcoming (just like any other Disney attraction).
As always, the cast members at Tusker House were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
Our waiter did a great job at explaining the character’s route around the restaurant, so we did not miss any character interactions.
He checked in on our table frequently, kept our cups filled, and told us all of our options at the buffet.
As soon as we were seated, our waiter took our drink order. They have fountain beverages, milk, multiple types of juice, tea, and coffee (all included in the price of your meal). They also have many other drink options that can be added on for an additional fee.
I would highly recommend the Jungle Juice. As a mom that drinks coffee every morning, I pushed my coffee to the side for the Jungle Juice. My 1.5 year old agreed! It was very difficult trying to get the drink away from him when we had to leave.
As I have mentioned before, Tusker House is a buffet style dining option. I love buffet style dining options at Walt Disney World® Resort, because you can eat at your own pace, and head to your next attraction as quickly or as slowly as you would like.
The buffet has so many food options. Everyone in your party is sure to find something they like! Since the Tusker House is in Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park, they have an African cuisine with American food as well.
At the Tusker House, you will find Safari Mickey Mouse, Daisy Duck, Donald Duck, and Goofy. These are the normal characters, but are subject to change at any time.
Each character will come to your table and spend as much time with you as your little ones want. My son wanted to curl up in Donald Duck’s lap and take a nap, and Donald Duck just knelt on the floor holding him until my son let go.
For getting extra fun with the characters at Tusker House, have your kids participate in the Conga Celebration. The characters have some really great dance moves to show off!
The characters will make their way around the restaurant, but if you are slow (like my family), the characters will even come to your table again if you are still eating.
The Tusker House does except dining plans, for 1 credit.
The Tusker House is more affordable than other character dining options at Walt Disney World® Resort.
If you make a breakfast reservation before the park opens, you will be in Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park as soon as the park is open.
You can purchase a Rivers of Light dining package, and receive preferred viewing for the nighttime Rivers of Lights show.
The show is at 7:15 p.m., and you should arrive anywhere from 15-35 minutes early. However, the seating does open up at 6 p.m.
I love the Tusker House at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. I would highly recommend this unique character dining experience.
The Tusker House is suitable for adult only groups and groups with kids of all ages.
